ELECTION & CANDIDATE INFORMATION

I've setup a website, specifically for this election, with extensive links to detailed information for voters (where to vote, finding which ward you are in, etc.), and complete lists of the candidates (including their contact info, websites, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, etc.).

The site includes a list of candidate forums and events.

I've also included a separate section where I outline my opinions of the issues and candidates.

The website is:

SOCIAL JUSTICE & ENVIRONMENTAL CANDIDATES

I've seen the following candidates at various social justice and environment meetings, events and actions. I've seen all of them at community rallies, pickets and/or marches. This is not necessarily an endorsement from me, and is definitely not an endorsement by the Activist Network or any affiliated projects or groups (blah, blah, disclaimer, blah, blah).

* Ward 1: Jennifer Banks
She has been extremely active on housing issues, among other social concerns.

* Ward 3: Helen Larocque
Very active in the labour movement. Involved in efforts like the No Sweat Coalition.

* Ward 6: James Kohut
Active on environmental issues and, especially, anti-(corporate-)globalization type stuff.

* Ward 8: Lindsay Luhnau
All sorts of environmental work, including her day job.

* Ward 9: Joe Ceci
The most actively supportive incumbent on issues of housing and poverty.

* Ward 11: Brian Pincott
Co-founder and past co-chair of the Sierra Club Chinook Group. Has worked on various projects including pesticide-free, housing, urban sprawl, etc.

Their contact info and websites are available in the candidates list on my election site.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

All of the campaigns would benefit greatly from more volunteers and donations. Even a couple hours of help can make a big difference - especially where the races are close. I strongly encourage everyone to contribute at least a couple of hours over the next two weeks to help out one or more of these candidates. A few dollars would be helpful, too.
